Swimming Pool Ozonation
Swimming pool water ozonation is time tested proven
technology. World wide swimming pool water is disinfected using Ozone.
Ozone is generated on site, using corona discharge technique. In this
technique oxygen from air is concentrated & supplied to ozone
generator. Ozone generator is IGBT based, high efficiency, high
frequency electronic unit converts oxygen to ozone. This ozone is mixed
in to the swimming pool water using ventury.
Advantages Of swimming Pool Ozonation :
Internationally most accepted for swimming pool
application
Latest & time tested technology in US & Europe
More effectively destroys Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi, Algae & Spores
1.33 times more powerful than chlorine
3,100 times faster than chlorine
Ozone has a micro-flocculation property
O3 destroys organism such as phenols, pesticides, herbicides & PCBs
Oxidizes inorganic such as cyanides, sulphides & nitrites
Oxidizes soluble ions & manganese
Removes Colours
Removes Odors
Reduces Turbidity
Reduces TDS
Operates bet. pH 6 to 9
No eye irritation
No skin blackening
No harmful Disinfectant Byprooducts (DBPs)
If ozonated water swollen not dangerous
Disadvantages Of Swimming Pool Chlorination :
Internationally - unaccepted 100 year old & out dated
technique
Eye reddening & conjunctivitis
Skin rashes & Skin & hair Blackening
Hair fall Increases
Disinfectant Byproducts are very dangerous
Produces Trihalomethane (THM), which is carcinogenic
If swollen, Chlorinated water is very dangerous to health
Environmentally hazardous.
Waste (Back wash) water may requite treatment before disposal
Disinfection Property Of Ozone
Disinfection property of any disinfectant agent depends
upon CT Value.
CT value indicates
C : Concentration of disinfectant &
T : Contact time.
The product of this decides the effectiveness, of disinfecting swimming
pool water.

CT ¹ Value for disinfectants to inactivate 99.0 %
(3-log) of GIARDIA LAMBLIA CYST
1 : These CT value for free chlorine, chlorine dioxide & ozone will
guarantee greater than 99.99 % inactivation of enteric viruses
2 : CT value will vary depending on concentration of free chlorine.
Values indicated are for 2.0 mg/L of free chlorine. CT value for
different free chlorine concentration are specified in tables in the
guidance Manual (U. S. EPA, 1990).
3 : To obtain 99.99 % inactivation of nitric viruses with preformed
chloramines requires CT value >5,000 at temperature of <1, 5, 10 & 15º C
